Eligibility and Application

Who is eligible to apply for the program?
Anyone looking to get into a field and learn a trade. We will be in the high schools working with instructors, JAG teachers, and counselors sharing our alternative option for students who do not want to go to a trade school or other institutions, but just want to earn a paycheck and learn a trade.

How can interested individuals apply, and what is the application process?
A Fabrication Trainee job position is posted on our website for individuals to apply. We will have a kiosk at the training facility for individuals to apply as well as information on the program to hand out.
Program Details

What specific skills will be taught during the training?
Trade Skills – Learn to lay out, position, align, and weld parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, welding torches, and hand tools.
Life Skills – A comprehensive list of life skills will be taught to help individuals manage their lives better and thrive in the workforce. A few key skills are Attention Management, Effective Communication, Work/Life Balance, Financial Literacy, Relationship Management, Embracing Change, and Career Management.

Will there be any certifications or credentials awarded upon completion of the program?
This training is exclusively applicable to DIS-TRAN Steel, providing specialized skills and insights tailored to our unique processes and operational requirements.
Cost and Funding

Is there any cost for the participants, or is the program fully funded?
Personal Protective Equipment and tools necessary to perform tasks will be provided by DIS-TRAN Steel. The trainee is responsible for trade-appropriate clothing.
Trainees will receive an hourly wage while participating in the program.
Employment Opportunities

Will there be opportunities for job placement after completion?
The goal is to prepare trainees for full-time employment opportunities aligned with their training. While we cannot guarantee an immediate opening, they may be considered in a pool for future opportunities.
Facility and Resources

What kind of facilities and resources will be available to trainees?
The trainee will experience both classroom lectures and hands-on training on the shop floor. Transportation to the plant for tours and observation will be provided by DIS-TRAN Steel.

The Training Instructors will be internal DIS-TRAN Steel professionals.
